What To Expect

03-2005-5As you walk through the door, you will be greeted and offered a bulletin. The bulletin contains the Order of Worship for the service and gives announcements important to the life of our church.

The dress of those who regularly attend ranges from casual to Sunday best.

If you have children 3 yrs. old or younger, they may be taken downstairs to the nursery, where they will remain for the entire service. Children ages 4 to 9 will enter the Worship Center for part of the service; then just before the Pastor’s message, they will be escorted to Children’s Church by the leader of that ministry.

As you enter the Worship Center, feel free to sit wherever you like or ask an Usher for assistance. All seats have a good view of the podium and the screen. And, by the way, don’t worry about being singled out from the front for being a visitor. That will never happen. We do not want to make our visitors uncomfortable.

Our service begins with the announcement of Opportunities for Service, Growth and Fellowship. Next, we quiet our hearts in preparation to encounter God in our worship during an instrumental prelude.

Our service is a blending of traditional and contemporary styles of music. We sing contemporary choruses with our Worship Team. The Worship Team consists of a keyboard player, guitarists and a small vocal team. Sometimes, we sing hymns accompanied by just a keyboard. The words are projected on a large screen and are available in large print — just ask an Usher.

We trust that you will find music to prepare each and every heart for worship.

03-2005-20Our service also includes the reading of Scripture, and times for prayer. We also pass an offering plate. Members of Calvary Baptist Church consider the offering an important part of their expression of worship to God; however, we do not expect visitors or guests to contribute to our ministry.

Our Pastor brings a message from God’s Word that not only emphasizes truths that are eternal but also challenges us to incorporate those truths into our everyday lives. What this means is that the messages relate the Bible to daily living while faithfully teaching the whole counsel of God.

Following the service, light refreshments are served at Calvary Cafe, located in Burtt Hall (on the lower level of the church building). The refreshments are free — the conversations and fellowship are priceless.

In case you are wondering — especially during those hot Summer months — yes, God has blessed us with central air-conditioning and padded chairs for your individual comfort. We also offer convenient parking and a lift to make arriving here easier.
