God neither competes for our attention nor will He. He typically does not overpower us, although He did knock Saul to the ground on the road to Damascus. While we need to remain receptive to His communication in any form He chooses, as God, we must approach the burning bush like Moses did instead of fleeing from it. However, we must be cautious not to confuse the voice of God with just another one of our own thoughts!
While the truth of God’s voice and His Word signifies His presence, it doesn’t absolve us from the need to seek Him. Seeking implies an all-encompassing search. When we earnestly search for God, we may need to step outside our routine to explore any signs of His presence, including the clear messages found in the Bible. One such assurance, my friend, is in Jeremiah 29:13: 'You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.'
Today, our challenge is to pray for the Lord's guidance in seeking Him more earnestly. We should actively explore every possibility that might be His way of reaching out to us. Perhaps you need to recognize that you have anticipated Him to vie for your attention or to strike you down like Saul?
Whatever it may be, do as Jeremiah states: “seek Him with all your heart.”
On this journey of faith with you,
Gene
