Good morning to everyone reading this blog post,
A fellow Facebook poster, Dan Steele, asked me if I would consider putting these posts on his site, Wisdom of Words. To which I thought, WHY? But thank you, Dan; it is appreciated. If you happen to know anyone who might benefit from my posts here and they don’t use Facebook, you can direct them to lifeatcalvary.com and look under Sermons, and the link will pop up: Food For Thought.
Very early in my walk, I was introduced to the Wednesday night Bible Study and Prayer meeting. It was there I learned to get on my knees and pray, not for myself, but for others; for the Lord to work in my fellow believers' lives and to prepare the hearts of those I’d come in contact with to share the good news that was shared with me.
In James 5:16, we read—16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
I want to focus on the phrase "pray for one another" from today’s message. While the context primarily relates to healing, likely of a physical nature, I also believe we should pray for all the other struggles our fellow brothers and sisters are facing right now. Many of these challenges go unspoken due to the fear of being judged as a weak believer. The good news, my friends, is that even if we don't know the specifics and you might not want to share them (I have an unspoken request), GOD KNOWS!
I have heard it said that when we focus less on ourselves and help others, we often solve our own problems!
Who needs your help today? Who needs your prayers? Sometimes, all it takes is a simple word of encouragement or a focused prayer for someone in need. Make an effort to dedicate your time and energy to helping others; you may discover that something within you heals, renews, or strengthens your own journey.
I use a phrase that may grate on some people because I use it all the time. (Can I tell you honestly, those are the types of individuals who need our prayers?) Here it is: People Don’t Care How Much You Know Until They Know How Much You Care!
Here’s to caring,
Gene
