Good morning, Faith Travelers! I apologize for my late entry. I had a late evening and slept in this morning because my dog, who usually wakes me up at 4 or 5, was so tired that he let me sleep in. I could have blamed it on the bad weather last night, but I'm better than that. So I blamed it on the dog! Haha!
I wonder if you share my impatience, asking the same question as David in Psalm 6:3: "O LORD, how long?" It’s a fair question, and I don’t believe God wants us to suffer in silence, as many of us often do. This is especially true for the brave military warriors we lose—over 22 a day—due to suicide.
I want to emphasize that expressing our needs and pouring our petitions unto Him is perfectly okay. We need healing from heaven, not just solutions from man. When anyone—be it a man, woman, boy, or girl—verbalizes their confusion about a trivial or significant situation, the Lord listens to our heartfelt cries. Our hearts genuinely need a touch of grace and peace from Jesus.
I’ve heard that a troubled heart struggles to have sweet dreams because dread or disappointment can diminish the quality of rest. In Exodus 33:14, God assured Moses on the mountaintop, saying, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Today, remember that asking the Lord, "How long?" is not a sign of a lack of faith. In fact, it might be just what the Lord is waiting to hear from you. This question can open the door for Him to touch you with His grace, peace, and rest!
Here’s to asking how long, O LORD! I'm asking, will you?
Gene
