As a kid, my friends and I would ride our bikes to Elmwood Park. There, we would sometimes build dams across a creek using nearby materials like rocks and wood. We did this mainly because we could. Have you ever built a mud dam to trap water and create a pool to sail your makeshift toy boat?
All our childhood attempts weren't always successful, were they? That dam would be gone by the next time we checked on it. The rocks and wood would be swept away by the rushing water and carried downstream.
Why share that story? Each day, you and I face challenges that might distract us and temporarily hinder our walk with the Lord. Though bad decisions, failures, and mistakes can sometimes derail us, if – and this is a crucial if – we surrender those circumstances to the Lord, they will never overturn His plan and purpose for us.
Child of God, God’s plan will always prevail, and that is truly good news. Even when chaos appears to dominate, God remains in control. For those of us who know Him, this means that nothing happening today or in the future—even when we intentionally disobey—can alter His intentions for us.
So, carry this frequently quoted verse with you today and every day:
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31
Blessings on your faith journey,
Gene
