There are two songs that have achieved fame during my lifetime, both of which contain the word “Imagine” in their titles. One is secular, and the other is Christian. The secular song is titled "Imagine," written by John Lennon. I acknowledge that this statement may attract criticism; however, I personally consider the song to be objectionable and lacking in merit. Here are a few of his lyrics:
"Imagine there’s no heaven,
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky…"
With these lyrics alone, it is plausible to suggest that Satan might have appreciated the fact that the world embraced the song.
The second song featuring the word "Imagine" is "I Can Only Imagine," by MercyMe. While it is true that we cannot fully comprehend what heaven will be like, we can only imagine. Furthermore, it is not merely about being in heaven, but about being in the presence of Jesus. Imagine?
I can only imagine
What it will be like
When I walk by Your side
I can only imagine
What my eyes would see
When Your face is before me
I can only imagine
Therefore, as you proceed through your day, take some time to reflect upon the message conveyed in Hebrews 11:1-2.
11 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. 2 For by it the people of old received their commendation. 3 By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.
Walk in faith, my life journeyer,
Gene
