In Mark 3, Jesus encounters a man with a withered hand in the synagogue on the Sabbath. He calls the man forward and asks the crowd if it is lawful to do good (heal) or evil (leave him in distress) on the Sabbath. Their silence was telling; one writer noted it “declared their inner condition.” In other words, they were uncertain of what to think or do!
Well, Jesus knew, as we read in verses 3 - 4, 3 And he said to the man with the withered hand, “Come here.” 4 And he said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent. 5 And he looked around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored.
What path will you choose? Will you adhere to human tradition, or pursue the Lord’s will? Jesus grasped what God intended because He understood God's thoughts.
Philippines 2:5- 5 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus,
Here’s to doing the right thing because it’s the right thing to do!
Blessings,
Gene
