Several years back, I read a book by Stephen Mansfield called Never Give In: The Extraordinary Character of Winston Churchill. For some reason, I have always been intrigued by Sir Winston Churchill. He transformed a nation that seemed on the brink of destruction, rallying its people to secure victory for England during WWII.

One of his most famous speeches, arguably the best he ever delivered, was titled "Never Give In!" He presented this speech on October 29, 1941, to his former school, Harrow. In addressing the students, Churchill contrasted the current war situation with the events from ten months earlier during the height of the German Blitz on London. His concluding words were, "never give in, never give in, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force: never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”

Isn’t this wise counsel for us as believers? The Scriptures contain numerous examples of men and women who, facing impending failure or disaster, never surrendered! Instead, they relinquished their own strength for the Lord’s. You might be diligently working on a project that has persisted for weeks or even years, feeling as though there's no light at the end of the tunnel. There may also be a situation where you can't see how it might turn out positively for you. Today could be that day. Don’t give up, and don’t surrender! Trust in Him and submit your will to His!

Today, remind yourself that God’s Word is true. He has the power to part the sea or calm the storm. God can heal, bring water from a rock, and send manna from heaven even in the wilderness. He can grant you victory over your enemies and deliver you from the fiery furnace and the lion’s den.

Focus on each day, fulfilling what He requests of you TODAY! Reflect on Solomon's wisdom in these well-known verses:

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
   and do not lean on your own understanding.
6 In all your ways acknowledge him,
   and he will make straight your paths.
7 Be not wise in your own eyes;
   fear the Lord, and turn away from evil.
8 It will be healing to your flesh
   and refreshment to your bones.

Then do as the Psalmist—21 I thank you that you have answered me and have become my salvation. Psalm 118:21

Blessings on your faith journey,

Gene
