Owen Seaman was a British writer, journalist and poet and wrote the following:
Between Midnight and Morning
You that have faith to look with fearless eyes
Beyond the tragedy of a world of strife,
And trust that out of night and death shall rise
The dawn of ampler life;
Rejoice, whatever anguish rend your heart,
That God has given you, for a priceless dower,
To live in these great times and have your part
In Freedom’s crowning hour;
That we may tell your sons who see the light
High in heaven—their heritage to take—
“I saw the powers of darkness put to flight!
I saw the morning break!”
The early morning hours have a unique quality, providing a quiet time to connect with the sounds of the upcoming day. Soon, the busy day begins, bringing noise and numerous distractions. Someone once remarked that morning is the first step toward tackling the 'things to do” list prepared the night before, but the world may not yet realize it, often presenting many unforeseen challenges. However, if we take a moment with God first to listen to His heart for us that day, even if everything doesn’t go perfectly as we hope, He uses these moments to strengthen our faith and trust in Him.
One writer I enjoy reading is Oswald Chambers, who said: “Create an inner chamber for prayer where no one knows you’re praying, close the door, and speak to God privately. Your only motive should be to know your Father in heaven. It is impossible to live as a disciple without intentional times of secret prayer.”
The psalmist David reminds us in Psalm 5:3, “ O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch.”
Blessings as you face your day in faith,
Gene
