While the world may claim there are many paths and gods leading to heaven, the Bible states otherwise. Although many people speak of multiple gods and ways to reach heaven, the Word clarifies this in Isaiah 43:10-11.—“You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me, no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me. I, I am the Lord, and besides me there is no savior.
The wonderful congregation I am blessed to lead often hears me quote John 14:6—Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” According to Jesus, there is only one way to heaven: through Him. Our salvation isn’t based on good works, behavior, or external expectations. We are saved because we believe in Jesus, who rescued us by dying on the cross in our place, rising again from the dead to remove the sin of those who accept His free gift, and giving us new life. Therefore, the only way to reach heaven is to believe in Him and accept His gift, made possible by His sacrifice on our behalf.
Do you want to go to heaven? Titus 3:5-7 explains salvation more clearly than I can, showing that when we believe in Jesus, he saves us not because of our righteous works, but because of his mercy. He saves us through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit, which he generously poured out on us through Jesus Christ our Savior. As a result, being justified by his grace, we become heirs with the hope of eternal life.
Here’s to believing,
Gene
