“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” — Proverbs 3:5-6
Whenever we face life's storms, the Lord reminds us that trusting Him is our safe refuge and peace. It’s easy to praise Him when all is well—sunshine, stocked fridge, paid bills. But true faith deepens when we trust Him in darkness, testing and strengthening our trust.
When tough times hit, we want to fix everything quickly. We imagine scenarios, seek answers, and rely on limited understanding. This effort drains us and shows how much we miss. It's okay not to see the whole picture immediately.
God’s invitation during tough times is special: let go of understanding and embrace His peace. Surrender isn’t about giving up but trusting Him to carry your burdens.
Isaiah reminds us of God's unchanging nature: "You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock" (Isaiah 26:3-4). Like a rock that stays still despite the wind, God’s love, goodness, and sovereignty remain firm and unwavering, always there for us.
Focusing on our Savior rather than our problem changes our perspective. He promises to guide us step by step through the valley.
Remember, our understanding is limited, but His power is limitless. Stop staring at the size of your mountain and start declaring the size of our God! God is either Lord over your storm, or you are a prisoner to it. Step out of the prison today.
Dear Heavenly Father, my circumstances are overwhelming, and I don't understand what You're doing. Please forgive me for trying to control the outcome myself. I choose to stop relying on my wisdom and trust in Your goodness, knowing You see and love me, working all for my good. Be my strength today, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Anchored in Him,
Gene
