“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.” — Psalm 1:1-2
True happiness isn't about doing more for God; it's about resting in what He's already done for you. Because of God's free grace, your identity is completely secure. You are already loved, accepted, and made righteous through Christ Jesus—nothing more you need to earn or prove.
Psalm 1 beautifully illustrates a gentle flow of grace. It gently guides us through the stages of worldly influence—walking, standing, and sitting—highlighting how the world keeps trying to draw us into its way of thinking and coping. Fortunately, grace provides a much stronger and more comforting anchor for us to hold onto.
Remember, you meditate on God's word not to earn His favor, but because you already have it. Let delight replace any sense of duty. By filling your mind with His promises, the overwhelming noise of the world gently fades away. Take a deep, comforting breath today, knowing you are truly His.
Here’s an idea: Set a timer on your phone for three specific times today. When it goes off, pause for 60 seconds, breathe deeply, and repeat Psalm 1:2 to yourself.
Heavenly Father, I sincerely thank You for the wonderful gift of Your free grace. Please wash away any pressure I feel to perform today. Help me discover my deepest joy simply in Your presence. Fill my mind with Your truth and gently remind me of Your endless love. Amen.
In His grace,
Gene
