“With God we shall do valiantly; it is he who will tread down our foes.” — Psalm 60:12
Our Psalm starts in deep distress, with David depicting a time when God seemed to reject His people and let them falter. In verses 1–11, we see a leader’s raw honesty amid overwhelming odds, recognizing that human help is ultimately “worthless".
The final verse shifts from despair to "prayer-fueled confidence" as David realizes victory depends on partnering with God, not his strength or strategy. The word valiantly connotes heroic courage and strength.
This verse reminds us of two vital truths for our battles—emotional, spiritual, or physical:
The power of "With God": We shouldn't face foes—anxiety, loss, or conflict—alone. Relying on His strength instead of our limited resources allows us to achieve the impossible.
He does the heavy lifting: While we're called to act "valiantly," He treads down enemies. We obey; He grants victory.
Today, whatever mountain is in your path, try to focus less on how high it is and more on the One by your side. With Him nearby, you're not just going to get through it, but you’ll do so bravely and with strength.
Heavenly Father, we thank You that we never face battles alone. Forgive us for relying on ourselves or others instead of You. We lay our struggles at Your feet, trusting in Your power to overcome obstacles and fears. Give us courage to act in faith today, knowing victory is Yours. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
More than Victors through Christ Jesus,
(Romans 8:37)
